Program Objectives
The Audio Technology Program is specifically designed to train students for entry level positions in a commercial recording , post-production studio and live sound events. Students will have the necessary management skills for entry-level management positions in the entertainment business.
Job Description
The graduate will be able to enter the audio / music business as an effective professional in a number of roles on either the technical or business management sides of the music and broadcast industries: recording engineer, post production engineer, live sound recording engineer, studio manager, music business manager, audio film editor, or record company professional.

ATP Course Outline
Module 1 Introduction To Audio Technology

This portion of the course is designed to introduce SAE students to the fundamentals of audio theory, recording, editing, and mixing. Topics including the physics of sound, basic console signal flow, electronics, microphone theory and basic MIDI help students prepare for the remainder of the Audio Technology Program.
Module 2 Studio Equipment and Practical Applications
prerequisite Intro to Audio Tech
This section of the program allows each student a more hands-on experience with the various studios and equipment at SAE Miami. Students are exposed to medium format studios like the Behringer 8 Bus and the Yamaha O2R. Other topics include advanced sequencing, stereo microphone techniques, and live sound theory/application.
Module 3 Advanced Recording and Engineering Production I
prerequisite Studio Equip and Prac Apps
Students are introduced to large format consoles like the SSL 4000E and the Digidesign ICON. Other advanced topics include mastering, advanced DAWs, sync theory, and session procedures.
Module 4 Advanced Recording and Engineering Production II
prerequisite Adv Rec and Eng I
The final weeks of the course are designed to investigate other career fields in the realm of audio engineering. Topics like sound to picture, multimedia and audio for the web, acoustics, music business, and broadcast engineering illustrate the importance of a broad range of knowledge in audio engineering.
