Electronic Music Production

EMP Course Overview:

The Electronic Music Production Course teaches students the practical techniques needed to produce a a variety of music styles such has Hip-Hop, House, Reggaeton, Electro, and more. Students on the EMP course learn how to develop their unique sound and improve their music production by mastering the music technology of today. Each class is designed to teach students new techniques to apply to their music. Students also have access to MIDI workstations that include software sequencers, sound modules and samplers.

EMP Course Details:

EMP 101: Propellerhead Reason & Intro to Logic Pro (prerequisites: None)

Without a solid foundation, nothing truly great can be built.
Students learn about critical concepts such computer setup, audio interfaces, digital audio, music theory, synthesis and effects while learning Reason and Logic . Students will examine various home studio set-ups and will be offered assistance in purchasing decisions (Attending this course includes SAE student discounts on equipment from many industry manufacturers and stores).

EMP 102: Advanced Logic, Ableton Live & Performing (prerequisites: EMP101)

The key to rising above the noise is finding your own voice. Capturing vocals and other audio, advanced synthesis, remixing, beat chopping and outboard processing are all extensively covered in this section. Utilizing these concepts, students are shown how to craft compelling original sounds for use in their productions.

Properly presenting your vision is as important as having ideas in the first place! In this final section, students learn how to mix, master  and perform their music to provide optimum impact both in headphones and live on stage. Digital distribution and music business concepts such as copyright, blogging, and marketing are also covered.
